Lane Whitney studied painting the academic style of the Old Master artists.  She learned the techniques of mixing color palettes that have been forgotten or abandoned in much of today's contemporary painting. These palettes, combined with her use of light, give Lane's paintings the life-like quality for which her work is admired.
